What’s involved ?

An STI screen usually involves a medical history and examination.Fluid samples, blood tests and swab test may be taken.

The typical screen  will test for the following infections;

• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhoea
• Hepatitis
• HIV
• Syphilis
• Trichomonas
• Herpes if indicated

Please avoid emptying your bladder for 2 hours prior to the consultation.

Most STI’s are easily treated at the clinic and for many common infections a one day course of antibiotics may be all that is required.

We are happy to refer more complicated infections to a genito -urinary clinic.
